Pune, April 4: With the dates for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 knocking the door and the first phase of polls just a week away, the residents of Moi village in Khed taluka of Pune district have issued an ultimatum to political parties and district administration authorities that they will not vote in the upcoming elections if their demands are not met.
Threatening to boycott the voting in the Third Phase of Lok Sabha, Moi village sarpanch Arun Phalke said, as Hindustan Times, “Villagers have given an ultimatum of April 15 to all political leaders and district administrative authorities to address the problems here, failing which, 2,500 voters will boycott the polls.” The village has a population of 6,500 people. According to the report, the villagers have also banned the entry of all political leaders in the village stating that politicians have failed to deliver on promises made during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The village falls under Shirur constituency in Maharashtra which would go to polls in the fourth phase on April 29.
In another development, residents of Dabil village in Khaira tehsil of Jamui LS constituency too have said that they will not cast vote in any election and boycott the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. They have demanded that road connecting their village be made before polls. The Jamui constituency will go to polls on April 11, and the results be declared on May 23.
