The Election Commission of India on Saturday issued a notice to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh Lok Sabha candidate Kirron Kher for sharing an 8-second campaign video featuring children on Twitter.

New Delhi, May 4: The Election Commission of India on Saturday issued a notice to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chandigarh Lok Sabha candidate Kirron Kher for sharing an 8-second campaign video featuring children on Twitter. The EC has asked to submit the reply within 24 hours, after the children in the video can be seen actively participating in the poll campaign by shouting slogans- "Vote for Kirron Kher and Ab ki baar Modi Sarkar".  Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Video Row: Child Rights' Commission Issues Notice to Congress General Secretary.

The complaint was registered by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCH) requesting the poll body to ensure that kids are not involved in any form with election-related activities. Priyanka Gandhi Made Children Chant 'Chokidar Chor Hai'? "Whatever happened was wrong, that children were used. Somebody sent it to us, my team shared it and later deleted it, very sorry, it happened, it should not have happened," Kirron Kher was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, Kirron Kher is fielded against Indian National Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal from the Chandigarh Parliamentary seat on May 19. The counting of votes and results will be declared on May 23.
