New Delhi, April 4: Just a few days before the nation votes for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has seized Rs 399.505 crore cash, Rs 162.892 Crore worth liquor, Rs 708.549 Crore worth drugs and precious metals worth Rs 318.495 Crore. The ECI has also seized freebies and other items worth Rs 29.342 Crore till date. Totalling it to Rs 1,618.783. Election Commission Seeks I&B Ministry’s Response on Namo TV Launch.

Gujarat tops the list with total seizure worth over Rs 510, followed by South Indian state Tamil Nadu Rs 270.15 crores, Andhra Pradesh over Rs 158 crore. According to data provided by ECI, the highest amount of cash was seized from Tamil Nadu, followed by Andhra Pradesh (Rs 95.79), Maharashtra (Rs 26.69) and others. Tamil Nadu Bypoll Contestant Declares Rs 1.76 Lakh Crore Cash, Rs 4 Lakh Crore Debt.

The highest volume of liquor was seized from Maharashtra over 19 lakh litres followed by Uttar Pradesh over 12 lakh litres, Karnataka 7.44 lakh litre, West Bengal 6.92 litres and Andhra Pradesh 5.55 lakh litres. The highest value of liquor was seized in Uttar Pradesh.

The Election Commission has deployed hundred of general observers, expenditure observers and mobile surveillance teams in the country to keep a check on illegal gratification to hold fair polls across the country.
