New Delhi, March 15: Ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2019, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday held a meeting of Multi-Departmental Committee on Election Intelligence in New Delhi. The ECI further added that around 137 First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Excise Act and 44 FIR has been registered under the Arms Act. Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (DG BCAS), Director General of Border Security Force (DG BSF), Financial Intelligence Unit and Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (DG CRPF) were also present at the meeting. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Schedule Announcement by ECI.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission on Sunday announced the dates for Lok Sabha and assembly elections. The elections will be held in the country from April 11, 2019, to May 23, 2019. Voting for the general polls will be held in seven phases and counting of votes will be held on May 23. With the announcement of dates, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect. The EC has also launched the cVIGIL application, where, voters can report violations of MCC.
