Mumbai, May 9: The first Lok Sabha election 2019 results would likely emerge from Maharashtra's Gadchiroli seat, where only five candidates are in fray, said officials on poll duty. With the few number of contestants in fray, the electoral officers are of the view that the counting will be completed within four-five hours after being commenced.
An announcement declaring the final winner from Gadchiroli will be made at 1pm on May 23 -- the day of counting. Seats with six, seven or eight candidates in fray will know their winners by 2 pm or 3 pm, whereas, those with more than 10 nominees in fray may take longer, an official claimed. In Maharashtra, a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats would be contested. The massive electoral size in the populated regions of Mumbai and adjoining parts would see the outcome emerging comparatively late. The maximum number of candidates, 36, are in fray from the Beed constituency.
A bureaucrat while speaking to TOI said that not only Maharashtra, but constituencies in other states where 6 or 7 are in fray will see an early outcome. Among those seats include Burdwan Durgapur (6), Burdwan Pura (7), Ranaghat (7), Alipurduar (7) and Bolpur (7) in West Bengal.
In Kerala, the first results would emerge from Alathur and Kottayam, with six and seven candidates in fray respectively. In Madhya Pradesh, the lowest number of candidates are in fray in Dewas (6) and Khargone (7).
