New Delhi, April 29: The Election Commission of India (ECI) officials will meet on Tuesday to decide the model code of conduct (MCC) violation complaints against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah. The EC's announcement comes after the Congress had moved Supreme Court against the numerous pending cases against PM Modi and Amit Shah.

In her petition, Congress MP Sushmita Devi alleged that both the leaders indulged in hate speeches and used defence forces for “political propaganda". Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned Sushmita Devi’s petition before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi to seek an urgent hearing as EC has not taken any decisions on complaints of MCC violations against Modi and Shah. Opposition Parties Complain to EC Against BJP's Name Under Its Symbol on EVMs; EC Says in Use Since 2013.

The Congress leaders alleged that BJP leaders have been violating Model code of conduct during the last four weeks and Election Commission has not taken any action against nearly 40 complaints by Congress party.

Meanwhile, earlier today, Congress delegation led by Sanghi met EC officials demanding a ban on PM Modi from election campaigning for 48 to 72 hours for violating MCC several times.
