Mumbai, July 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Ladakh today to attend the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas. During this visit, the Prime Minister will also virtually carry out the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel project in Ladakh after paying tribute at the Kargil War Memorial. The Shinkun La Tunnel will be 4.1 km long and constructed at an altitude of 15,800 feet on the Nimu—Padum—Darcha Road, making it the tallest tunnel in the world when completed.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will appear before the MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur on Friday for a hearing in a defamation case. Congress district president Abhishek Singh Rana said that Gandhi will arrive at Lucknow airport at 9 am on Friday. Following his arrival, he will proceed towards Sultanpur. The BMC's official statement read, “The weather and rainfall in Mumbai are normal at present, allowing life in the metropolitan city to proceed smoothly.”

An Mi-28 military helicopter crashed in an uninhabited area of southwestern Russia, killing the crew, two Russian news agencies said Thursday. "An Mi-28 crashed in the Kaluga region... the crew died," the TASS news agency said, quoting a source in the defence ministry.
