Joe Phaahla, Health Minister of South Africa, said that the country is on high alert following the outbreak of monkeypox in May, with five laboratory-confirmed cases, including one death. Phaahla also said that all five patients diagnosed with monkeypox, also known as Mpox, three from KwaZulu-Natal Province and two from Gauteng Province, were men between the ages of 30 and 39 with no history of travel.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today, June 12, expressed deep shock over the tragic fire incident in Kuwait City, which has resulted in dozens of deaths, including of many Indian nationals. "Deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait city. There are reportedly over 40 deaths and over 50 have been hospitalised. Our Ambassador has gone to the camp. We are awaiting further information," Jaishankar posted on X.

A mental hospital in Chandigarh's sector 32 received a bomb threat via email today, June 12. The mental health institute's building has been evacuated, and the police are conducting an investigation. Additionally, a bomb disposal squad has been deployed to the scene.

In the wake of a terror attack in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, traffic movement has been suspended on the Bhadarwah-Pathankot Highway. The suspension comes as a result of the ongoing search and cordon operation in the region.


Mumbai, June 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on June 18 to address a farmers' conference. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir killed a terrorist during an encounter after ultras opened fire at a village in Kathua district. A police official said that terrorists had earlier struck Saida Sukhal village near Koota Mode in the Hiranagar sector.
