Mumbai, May 3: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up to address public meetings in Bardhaman, Krishnanagar, and Bolpur constituencies in West Bengal, with an additional one in Jharkhand, on May 3, it is evident that his focus on Bengal for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls remains unwavering. PM Modi's strategic emphasis on West Bengal underscores not only the significance of the state in the electoral landscape but also the BJP's aspirations to make substantial inroads into a traditionally challenging territory.

On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise for "endorsing" Prajwal Revanna, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader facing heat in the alleged sex scandal case. "Prajwal Revanna has raped 400 women and made videos. This is not a sex scandal but mass rape. And the Prime Minister, in front of the people of Karnataka, was supporting and seeking vote for this mass rapist. He is saying that if you vote for this mass rapist, it would help him," Rahul Gandhi said at a public rally in Karnataka's Shivamogga.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the candidature of Karan Bhushan Singh, son of six-term MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, from the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat. The party announced UP Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from Rae Bareli.
