Mumbai, October 16: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday, October 15, announced the schedule for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. As per the announcement, the Maharashtra state assembly election will be held in a single phase to elect 288 members of the Vidhan Sabha. According to the schedule, polling in Maharashtra will take place on November 20 with counting of votes on November 23. On the other hand, assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases - on November 13 and November 20. The counting of votes for the Haryana assembly elections will take place along with Maharashtra on November 23.
In the latest development in the Baba Siddique murder case, the Mumbai police on Tuesday, October 15, arrested one more person in connection with the killing of the NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister. The arrested accused has been identified as Harishkumar Balakram (23), a resident of Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh.
