Sri Lanka's newly appointed President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, today signed the special gazette notification ordering the dissolution of parliament. As per officials, the dissolution will be effective from Tuesday midnight and the election will be held on November 14.

CIDCO chairman Sanjay Shirsat today, September 24, said that the Air Force will conduct the first trial landing of a fighter jet on October 5 in the first of two runways of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). Notably, the trial landing will be conducted in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of Tamil Nadu has predicted heavy rains in many districts of the state for the next two days and also issued a yellow alert for seven districts. The yellow alert has been issued for Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts of the state.

Three railway employees have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to derail a train near Kim railway station by removing fishplates and keys from a railway track. The attempted train derailment incident was thwarted on Saturday, the police said.
