The Chandrababu Naidu-led government in Andhra Pradesh has given "general consent" to allow the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct raids and carry out investigations in the state without prior permission of the state government, except in cases relating to state government employees. The consent has been given for the investigation of offences alleged to have been committed by employees of the Central government, Central Public Sector Undertakings and private persons.

BJP National President JP Nadda today, August 20, appointed the party's former General Secretary Ram Madhav and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy as election in-charge for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which will be held in three phases. The results of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be declared in Haryana on October 4.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which ruled against the appeal of Vinesh Phogat, stating that she is ineligible to be awarded a silver medal, released a detailed 24-page judgement on August 19, explaining their decision.
