Mumbai, August 1: Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday moved a Privilege Motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for tweeting the expunged portions of BJP MP Anurag Thakur's caste remarks against Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. In his complaint to the Lok Sabha secretary general, Channi said the BJP MP made "many objectionable remarks" in the Lok Sabha. Some of the remarks were later expunged from the records by Congress MP Jagdambika Pal, who was in the Chair during the proceedings.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday the United States was not involved in the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and reiterated the importance of a ceasefire in Gaza. "This is something we were not aware of or involved in. It's very hard to speculate," Blinken said in an interview with Channel News Asia during a visit to Singapore. Iran's Revolutionary Guards confirmed Haniyeh's death, hours after he attended a swearing-in ceremony for the country's new president.
