The Italian coastguard said Monday it had recovered the bodies of 13 women, some of them pregnant, after a boat carrying around 50 migrants capsized off Lampedusa.

Around a dozen people, reportedly including eight children and other pregnant women, are still missing after the small, overloaded boat capsized off the coast of the southern Italian island, the coastguard said.

New Delhi, October 7: The Supreme Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the axing of trees in North Mumbai's Aarey colony and has constituted a Special Bench to hear the matter today. A notice was posted on the apex court's website, stating that the case would be heard on Monday morning at 10:00 am. The Special Bench will be constituted for the hearing as the judges are on leave from October 7-12 to mark the Dussehra holidays.

In a shocking case of hooliganism, a Muslim couple was harassed by miscreants in Rajasthan's Alwar and forced to chant "Jai Shri Ram". The anti-social elements not only offended their religious sentiments, but also verbally abused them. One of the two accused also outraged the modesty of the Muslim woman by flashing before her. Both the hooligans have been arrested by officials of the Kotwali police station, under whose jurisdiction the area of crime falls.

Amid the ongoing economic slowdown, tensions have escalated for Yes Bank as "fake news" related to the company's financial health has led to the free fall of its shares at the stock market. The bank's management on Sunday registered a complaint with the Mumbai Police and the Cyber Cell, seeking a crackdown at the source of the misinformation campaign.

A delegation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader from Jammu province has been granted permission to meet party chief Mehbooba Mufti, who is currently under detention, in Srinagar on Monday.
