Mumbai, October 23: With the economic crisis gripping the country, Congress on Tuesday announced that it would hold a protest against the Narendra Modi government from the first week of November. While this was announced yesterday, LatestLY brings you the Live breaking news for today, October 23, 2019.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Anurag Agarwal on Tuesday ordered re-polling in five polling booths of five assembly constituencies on Wednesday, October 23. Re-polling will be held in one polling booth in Uchana Kalan, Berry, Narnaul, Kosli and Prithla assembly constituencies each from 7 am to 6 pm tomorrow as "some shortcomings" have been noticed.

In a tragic case, a 29-year-old police constable allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Vikhroli on 21st October. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

According to an ANI update, Balasaheb Thorat, President of Maharashtra Congress Committee wrote to Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer (CEC) over 'EVM tampering'. The letter states that "We feel that installation of network jammers is highly necessary in and around strong rooms where EVMs are stored till counting..."
