Mumbai, October 21: In one of the biggest news of today, voting has started in Maharashtra and Haryana from 7 am today. The counting of votes and election result will be declared on August 24.  According to details by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Haryana has 1.82 crore registered voters this year. Polling has started in 90 constituencies in Haryana and 288 constituencies in Maharashtra

PM Modi and other leaders have urged people to vote and enrich the festival of democracy. Amit Shah appealed people in both the polling states to vote and help fight corruption and chose a stable government.

Tagged as a "left-leaning" economist by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Nobel Laureate Abhijit Banerjee struck back saying his views were once shared by the incumbent Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. While speaking to a news channel, the Nobel Prize 2019 winner for Economic Sciences said Sitharaman was once his contemporary in the Jawaharlal Nehru University.
