One Turkish soldier was killed and another wounded in an attack on Sunday by Syrian Kurdish forces despite a ceasefire deal brokered by the United States, the defence ministry said in a statement.
"One of our heroic comrades fell martyr and another was wounded after anti-tank and small arms fire by... terrorists during their reconnaissance and surveillance mission" in the Tal Abyad area, the ministry said, adding the army returned fire in self-defence.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju flagged off Delhi Half Marathon at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium earlier this morning. In Bengaluru, a student of AIMS College in Peenya died while practicing ramp walk for a function y'day in the college. Reports inform that she lost her life after allegedly suffering a cardiac arrest and fell off the stage. She was taken to hospital & was declared brought dead. A case has been registered.
In Delhi, major pollutants PM 2.5 at 115 in 'Moderate' category and PM 10 at 221 in 'Poor' category, in Lodhi Road area, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) data. In Uttarakhand, three people were injured and two missing due to landslide near Chandikadhar in Rudraprayag.
