6 terrorists have been confirmed dead in an encounter reported in Jammu & Kashmir's Anantnag encounter early in the day. Earlier, four fatalities were confirmed. However, the death toll was later increased after receiving inputs from the security personnel involved in the counter-insurgency operation.

New Delhi, November 23: In an early morning security operation in Jammu & Kashmir's Anantnag district, four terrorists were killed by the joint team of Army, CRPF and J&K police. On the political front, regional parties in Jammu & Kashmir continue to mark their dissent against Governor Satya Pal Malik for dissolving the assembly, hours after PDP's Mehbooba Mufti pitched to form a new government with support from the Congress and National Conference. Malik defended his actions, claiming that it was necessitated to prevent horse trading.

Meanwhile, the poll pitch escalated in Madhya Pradesh, which goes to polls on November 28. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who addressed multiple public meetings in Bhopal on Wednesday, attempted to mitigate the purported agrarian angst against his regime, saying the BJP would leave no stone unturned to double the farmers' income if re-elected to power.
