New Delhi, November 18: The poll campaigning has reached at its peak in Chhattisgarh, where the second and final phase of assembly elections 2018 is scheduled on Tuesday, November 20. Today will be the last day of electioneering, as per the Model Code of Conduct norms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will end the ruling BJP's campaign with a rally in Mahasamund. In other major news, PM Modi delivered a successful geo-political message in Male, where he attended the oath-taking ceremony of Maldives newly elected President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. While Solih blamed China for looting the state's coffers, Modi assured that India would be strongly aidiming the island nation in its path to recovery.

Meanwhile, tensions continue in Kerala, where right-wing outfits had called a bandh on Saturday to protest the detention of Hindu Aikya Vedi leader who had reached the Sabarimala shrine at 2am. The protesters have accused the Pinarayi Vijayan government of targeting Hindu leaders under the pretext of prohibitory orders.

On the international front, the voices of dissent in peripheries of Pakistan against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project has grown louder. "CPEC is not a pro people project; it is a pro military project. It has a strategic interest, it isn’t to develop local people of Gilgit-Baltistan or Balochistan. We demand that this project be immediately stopped," said prominent PoK activist Jamil Maqsood.
