The quota of new scholarships for wards of state police officials will be 500 in a year.
Flight Lieutenant Mohana Singh has become the first woman fighter pilot to be qualified to undertake missions by day on Hawk advanced jet aircraft. Singh, along with two other women Bhawana Kanth and Avani Chaturvedi, had joined the fighter stream in June 2016.

In other national news, Punjab's embattled minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has struck back at critics within his own party, asking why they are singling him out for the loss suffered by the party.
"Instead of collective responsibility,out of 50 department only mine has been commented upon. Why? I can't answer.But it doesn't mean I'll do the same. I didn't say anything before,I won't say anything now. He (Punjab CM) can take any decision, I'll follow that," he said.
