Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the following changes: Rates of scholarship have been increased from Rs. 2000 per month to Rs. 2500 per month for boys and from Rs. 2250 per month to Rs. 3000 per month for girls. Prime Minister has approved the following changes: Ambit of the Scholarship Scheme is extended to the wards of State Police officials who are/were martyred during terror/naxal attacks. The quota of new scholarships for wards of state police officials will be 500 in a year.

In other national news, Punjab's embattled minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has struck back at critics within his own party, asking why they are singling him out for the loss suffered by the party.
"Instead of collective responsibility,out of 50 department only mine has been commented upon. Why? I can't answer.But it doesn't mean I'll do the same. I didn't say anything before,I won't say anything now. He (Punjab CM) can take any decision, I'll follow that," he said.
On the international front, US President Donald Trump has decided to impose 5 per cent additional duty on goods being imported from Mexico. The move is aimed at pressuring the Latin American nation to halt the flow of migrants.
