New Delhi, June 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on his first bilateral visit to Maldives. He would also be visiting the neighbouring island nation of Sri Lanka today where he is scheduled to hold talks with President Maithripala Sirisena. Stay tuned here for the live breaking news and updates from India and around the world.

In another major news, Pakistan PM Imran Khan has written to Narendra Modi appealing for the resumption of talks to resolve all pending disputes between the two neighbouring nation. Khan's outreach to his Indian counterpart comes a week ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, he and Modi would be in attendance along with other heads of states.

Speculations are rife that brief talks could be held between Khan and Modi on the sidelines of the summit. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has so far categorically denied any development related to the potential meeting between the two leaders.

On the sporting front, the match between Pakistan vs Sri Lanka was cancelled on Friday due to rains. Both sides shared one point each. Two matches are scheduled for today: England vs Bangladesh (3:00 pm IST) and New Zealand vs Afghanistan (6:00 pm IST).
