In the South, concern looms over the health of DMK patriarch and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi. The 94-year-old is admitted at the Kauvery Hospital, where he was rushed on Saturday after low blood pressure. His condition is now reported to be stable.

Among major international news, a major earthquake was reported in Indonesia's Lombok Island, which led to the death of 10 individuals and left over 50 with injuries. The tremors were epicentered 50 km northeast of the city of Mataram on the northern part of Lombok island, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

On the geopolitical front, the US-Pakistan relations are likely to be further deteriorated as Washington is planning to slash its military aid to Islamabad from $700 million at present to $150 million. The changes have been proposed in the draft bill of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2019.
