Mumbai, January 2: Pakistan continued ceasefire violation on the second of New Year along the line of control in Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The security forces have taken control over the situation and are giving them a befitting reply. Earlier on Tuesday too, reports of ceasefire violation arrived from Khari Karmara area of Poonch district. It is speculated that the ceasefire violations are taking place after Indian foiled a major intrusion attempt by Border Action Team (BAT) to strike a forward post along LoC in Naugam Sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
In other news, Uttar Pradesh government imposed a Gau Kalyan cess, a 0.5 per cent additional levy on excise items, to collect fund for the protection of stray bovines and maintaining cow shelters in the state. The decision was taken on Tuesday the state cabinet, headed by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who cleared the proposal to impose Gau Kalyan cess. Due to this move, the prices for alcoholic drinks are expected to rise in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday appealed for patience in the Ram Mandir construction issue in Ayodhya and said that the Union government is waiting for the Supreme Court verdict. In an interview with ANI on Tuesday, PM Modi said that the government would resort to the measure for adopting the ordinance route in Parliament only after the Supreme Court pronounces its verdict in the case.
