Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose 94th birth anniversary on Tuesday is celebrated as Good Governance Day, is remembered by the nation after the statesman died on August 16, 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the former PM and BJP's founding member Atal Bihari Vajpayee, also known as Atal ji and paid tribute to the departed leader on his 94th birth anniversary.


The National Approval Ratings, one of the major pre-election surveys, has predicted a fractured mandate in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP-led NDA is expected to win 247 seats with a vote share of 37.7 per cent, whereas, the Congress-led UPA is predicted to emerge a distant second with 171 seats (32.8 per cent votes). Others or the non-aligned outfits hold key for the next government formation, as they are predicted to win 125 seats (29.5 per cent vote share).

The Supreme Court will hear a petition filed against the delay in hearing the Ayodhya case on January 4 next year. Earlier, the Ayodhya case was scheduled to be heard in October, but a bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and comprising Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph postponed the hearing on the matter to January 2019. The top court on October 29, was to hear a batch of pleas challenging the Allahabad High Court's 2010 verdict by which the disputed land in Ayodhya was divided into three parts.

A fresh survey predicts a rout for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. According to the 'National Approval Ratings' - released by news channel Republic World in coordination with research agency C-Voter - the SP-BSP-RLD combine, touted as the mahagathbandhan, will wrest most of the parliamentary constituencies from the BJP.
