Supreme Court today issued a notice to Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, after hearing a petition filed by Satish Ukey, claiming that the CM had allegedly concealed the pendency of two criminal cases against him in his 2014 election affidavit.
The focus of coverage will be on Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan where the Congress will take a final on its chief ministerial candidates for the two states. In Madhya Pradesh, Congress state unit chief Kamal Nath has emerged as the frontrunner for the top post, while in Rajasthan senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot seems leading the race. Gehlot and Pilot will meet Congress national president Rahul Gandhi in the national capital.
Meanwhile, the winter session of Parliament is underway. The contentious issues like Rafale fighter deal and alleged “breakdown of institutions RBI and CBI” will be discussed in the Lok Sabha during the session under Rule 193, which does not entail voting, news agency ANI reported. Winter Session of Parliament, which could not function properly on the first working day on Wednesday, is expected to be a smooth affair from Thursday onwards.
In West Bengal, a three-member delegation of the BJP will meet government official to discuss over the party's Rath Yatra, which was slated to be held in several parts of the state. In an unrelated development, the Editor’s Guild of India (EGI) on Wednesday suspended the membership of former Union Minister of State for External Affairs M. J. Akbar and ex Tehlka magazine editor, Tarun Tejpal over the allegations of sexual misconduct.
