Mumbai, August 18: In a major fire that raged for more than five hours at AIIMS, India's premier medical facility has finally been brought under control, said Delhi Fire Service Director, Vipin Kental. The cooling operation is underway currently, said the fire service director. The fire staff will be in the hospital for some more time to monitor the situation. The fire, which broke out late afternoon in the hospital and caused extensive damages to the first, second and third floor of the PC Block was doused by approximately 6:25 pm on Saturday.

In another news, Bihar's Independent MLA Anant Singh on whom Police had conducted a raid and recovered an Ak-47 earlier this week, fled from his residence when Police reached to arrest him. Police said, "We did talk to his wife but she did not divulge details, we will take further action accordingly." MM Kalburgi Murder Case: SIT Files Chargesheet Against Six Accused Persons

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of rationalist and writer M M Kalburgi filed a fresh chargesheet in the case. In the chargesheet, the six accused in the case have been charged with murder. The Supreme Court had earlier in the year transferred the probe into the killing of the rationalist to the SIT investigating the murder case of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh after Karnataka government said there were "common links in the two cases."
