Government relaxes restrictions on civilian movement on Jammu Srinagar Highway. Restriction on civilian movement between Srinagar and Baramulla on NH-44 would now be limited only to Sunday with effect from April 22. There would be no prohibition on civilian traffic on Wednesday.
The government added that restrictions would continue between Srinagar and Udhampur on NH-44 as earlier. However, these would be reviewed periodically and relaxation would be made as the need for restriction reduces. A complete review of restrictions would be done after last phase of elections on May 6.

New Delhi, April 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Bhopal, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, after sparking controversy by insulting 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare said that she is taking back her statement and apologizing for it. Sadhvi Pragya said that the statement was her "personal pain" and Karkare is certainly a martyr.
Continuing to crack the whip on loudmouth politicians, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday imposed a campaigning ban on another top politician, the Himachal Pradesh BJP's state unit chief Satpal Singh Satti, for using an "obscene slur" against Congress president Rahul Gandhi. As per the EC order, Sati has been barred from addressing political rallies, press conferences or giving an interview to reporters for 48 hours beginning from Saturday 6 am.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday issued an appeal to the families and friends of over 500 Indians working in Tripoli, asking them to reach out to their kin in war-torn Libya and ask them to return to India at the earliest. The Ministry's message comes amid the death of at least 213 people in Libya since the crisis intensified earlier this month.
