Navi Mumbai, July 15: In a rare sighting that stirred local conservation efforts, a Lesser Noddy, typically found in the Maldives, was spotted at the Seawoods NRI complex in Navi Mumbai. The bird, scientifically identified as "Anous tenuirostris," captivated residents and wildlife enthusiasts alike with its distinctive long beak and unfamiliar presence in Indian skies. The discovery, made on Sunday by resident Deepak Rampal, quickly escalated into a rescue operation coordinated by the Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA).

According to a mid-day report, despite their best efforts, including transporting the bird nearly 30 kilometres to the WWA Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Manpada, Thane, hopes of its survival were dashed.
