Mumbai, November 6: A female leopard is battling for life after being hit by a vehicle on Ahmednagar-Kalyan highway on Tuesday. The leopard was bleeding profusely after a vehicle hit her near Pimpri. The big cat sustained injuries on its face and left front paw. It also had internal haemorrhaging. It remains unclear if the person whose vehicle hit the leopard was arrested or charged. Maharashtra: Two-Year-Old Female Leopard Meets with Road Accident in Pune.

The Junnar forest department informed Wildlife SOS, an NGO, about a leopard lying on the side of the highway after an accident. A team of five rescuers and forest department officials reached the spot. The area was cordoned off. Officials dispersed the crowd which had gathered to catch a glimpse of the injured leopard. Leopard Enters Godown in Ambala, Creates Panic.

Rescuers then sedated the leopard and the animal was sent leopard to Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Centre in Khamgaon. "This is the third time a leopard was gravely injured in a road accident this year. The first two were left paralysed, and this one's life was hanging by a thread when we found her," Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS, told TOI.
