Uttarakhand, November 28: A leopard was caught on camera attacking a dog at a hotel in Shrinagar part of Uttarakhand. The incident has once again highlighted the case of leopard spotting in the nearby areas. A CCTV footage from the hotel shows the attack on the hotel owner's pet dog. The leopard silently entered the hotel premises and attacked the dog. The hotel has CCTV cameras which give the panoramic views of the property. There have been numerous instances of leopard attacks in the state, especially around the Rajaji National Park. One of the leopards from the park had mauled over 21 people in the last three years. Forest officials managed to kill the deadly leopard later. In the month of June this year, the locals to avenge the death of a small girl by leopard had burnt down the entire forest area in Harinagari area of Uttarakhand's Bageshwar district. Leopard Kills 7-Year-Old in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar, Villagers Burn Down Forest in Protest.

There have been frequent attacks around the Rajaji National Park. Leopards were reported to turn into man-eaters, hunting around in the local residential areas. The man-animal conflict between the wild and locals has been existent in several parts of the country. As the line between the forest areas and commercial spaces thin down the man-animal conflict only rises.
