A law student from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Lucknow for a series of home thefts carried out to fund his girlfriend’s extravagant lifestyle. Identified as Abdul Haleem, the accused targeted homes in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar to meet his girlfriend's demands for luxury items such as iPhones, shopping sprees, and club outings.

Lucknow, September 27: A law student from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Lucknow for a series of home thefts carried out to fund his girlfriend’s extravagant lifestyle. Identified as Abdul Haleem, the accused targeted homes in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar to meet his girlfriend's demands for luxury items such as iPhones, shopping sprees, and club outings.

According to a report in India Today, the police launched an investigation following multiple thefts in the area, using CCTV footage to trace Abdul’s movements and identify him as the suspect. According to Senior Police Officer Keshav Kumar, Abdul confessed to the thefts after being arrested. The breakthrough in the case came when one of the homeowners received an alert on their phone from a security alarm system, notifying them of a break-in. This prompted a closer review of CCTV footage, which led to Abdul's identification and subsequent arrest.

The police have recovered stolen items, including jewellery and cash, from Abdul's possession. The law student has been sent to jail, and further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of his involvement in other possible thefts.
