Lalu Prasad Gets Bail In Deoghar Treasury Fodder Scam Case

In a major development, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chif Lalu Prasad Yadav has been granted bail in the fodder scam case relating to Deoghar treasury. Hearing in the High Court on bail of RJD supremo, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh's court granted relief to Lalu.

Ranchi, July 12: In a major development, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been granted bail in the fodder scam case relating to Deoghar treasury. Hearing in the High Court on bail of RJD supremo, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh's court granted relief to Lalu. The bail was granted as Lalu had completed half of the sentence. In the case, Lalu was awarded jail term for three and a half years.

The court has ordered Lalu Yadav to deposit his Passport. Meanwhile, the RJD chief has to stay in jail, due to the conviction in two other cases. The former Bihar Chief Minister had approached the top court seeking bail on the grounds of acute health problems and old age. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing on behalf of Lalu Yadav, told that there is no reason of him fleeing. In response, the Supreme Court said: “There was no danger, except that you are a convicted man," while dismissing the petition.
