Rajasthan, January 6: Three more infants have died at Kota's JK Lon Hospital, thus taking the death toll to 110 over the last 36 days. According to a Times of India report, there were reports of replacing paediatric department head Amritlal Bairwa.

The hospital courted fresh controversy on Friday after the authorities were seen rolling out carpets ahead of the visit of State Health Minister Raghu Sharma. The carpet was, however, removed on seeing the presence of media outside the hospital. As per a government report, as many as 91 infants have died at the hospital in December 2019. The Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state has been under fire from the BJP and other Opposition parties in the state. After the infant deaths came to light, medical superintendent, Dr HL Meena was from his post in December.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tried to belittle the grave situation when on Friday he said, "Some people are, intentionally or unknowingly, indulging in mischief regarding the situation in Kota. I spoke with the union health minister today and informed him that in 5 to 6 years, the lowest figures are coming now, that is how wonderful the arrangements have been."
