According to a report published in Hindustan Times, The Konkan Kanya Express and the Mandovi Express plying between Mumbai and Goa will get improved German-designed coaches. Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches will replace the older coaches made at the Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai from June 10. The seats in the new coaches will also be increased from 72 to 80. According to the report, the LHB coaches are made of stainless steel and aluminium which are lighter than ICF coaches. “The hydraulic shock absorber and improved suspension system of LHB coaches ensure greater riding comfort for the passengers,” reported Hindustan Times quoting LK Verma, chief spokesperson of Konkan Railway as saying. The new coaches will also have a modular interior with integrated ceiling lights and luggage racks. Tejas Express Set to Run With New 'Saffron' Look, CCTVs in Each Coach.
Last month reports also surfaced that the Deccan Queen, which operates between Mumbai and Pune, will also get LHB coaches by the end of the year. The Central Railway had also announced about its plans to introduce LHB coaches in the Indrayani Express by August this year.
