Kolkata Shocker: Woman Sleeping Next to Ailing Son Molested by Ward Boy, Accused Arrested

A ward boy allegedly molested a 26-year-old woman while she was sleeping beside her ailing child at the Institute of Child Health (ICH), a government-run hospital in Kolkata.

Kolkata, September 16: As the entire nation is expressing outrage over the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, another shocking incident of crime against women has surfaced. A ward boy allegedly molested a 26-year-old woman while she was sleeping beside her ailing child at the Institute of Child Health (ICH), a government-run hospital in Kolkata.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, the incident occurred in the children's ward where her child was receiving treatment, India Today reported. The accused, Tanay Pal (26), who was serving as a ward boy, allegedly entered the ward and inappropriately touched the woman. The Kolkata Police have taken swift action, lodging an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and arresting Pal. His mobile phone has been seized and sent for forensic examination. Pal was produced before a local court and has been remanded to police custody.

This incident follows another case earlier this week, where a woman was allegedly molested by a fellow passenger inside a moving bus in the Kasba area of Kolkata. The incident occurred around 9:30 am, prompting the woman to scream for help. Fellow passengers apprehended the accused and beat him up before he managed to deboard the bus. In a separate incident, a nurse was allegedly molested at a government-run hospital in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. The nurse was administering a saline drip to a man who had been brought to the health centre with a high fever when the incident occurred.
