Kolkata, February 17: A 28-year-old man allegedly ended his life by jumping off the roof of a five-storey building in the Salkia region of Howrah. The man was allegedly threatened by her lover, following which he took this extreme step. After the alleged incident, the woman was arrested on suspicion of provoking the man to take the alleged step.

According to the police, the youth was put under severe mental pressure due to which he ended his life. The police also said that the accused, Doulat Devi Gupta (34) was blackmailing the victim Akash Das (28).
The youth was found in a pool of blood on the first floor after he jumped from the five-storey building, TOI reported.

According to cops, the two had a lengthy phone conversation the night before the incident. Das had come to see Doulat at the five-story building where she worked, and the two of them had gone up to the roof. Doulat allegedly sought money from Das in order to purchase gold jewellery. Because Akash was hesitant, she threatened to reveal their relationship to his family and allegedly blackmailed him. He felt helpless, so he allegedly committed suicide.
