Kolkata, October 2: One of the six injured in the Dum Dum Nagar Bazar blast has succumbed to injuries in hospital on Tuesday. A total of five people were injured in an explosion in front of a multi-storey building in the Nagerbazar area in the city's northern suburbs on Tuesday. Soon after the incident, the injured ones were rushed to the state-run R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, Purnendu Basu, West Bengal Minister was quoted by ANI saying, "I think this type of blast is similar to the ones carried out by RSS elsewhere".
West Bengal Police informed that it was a high-intensity blast where people seriously injured, 6 injured. "Found some iron nails but can't ascertain cause of blast yet as there is no smell of gunpowder", the official said.

According to a report by PTI, the explosion was reported outside a fruit shop on the ground floor of the building. The incident took place in the congested Kazipara area under the jurisdiction of Dum Dum Police Station around 9 am on Tuesday, Police informed. The Police has initiated an investigation into the matter. Also, a forensic team and sniffer dogs have been sent to the spot to ascertain the nature of the explosion. The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.
