The route for the BJP rally was from Hind Cinema-CR Avenue-to culminate at Shyambazar, where Nadda will address a public gathering. The aim behind today's protest is to counter the protests done by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against NRC and CAA in the state.
Kolkata, December 23: Earlier in the day BJP Working President JP Nadda arrived at Kolkata airport to lead a march today supporting the Citizenship Act. The route for the BJP rally was from Hind Cinema-CR Avenue-to culminate at Shyambazar, where Nadda will address a public gathering. The aim behind today's protest is to counter the protests done by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against NRC and CAA in the state.

Over the last one week, Kolkata has witnessed violent protests over the implementation of the CAA. Mamata Banerjee has remained firm that she would not allow its implementation in the state and it can happen only over her dead body. Her latest video CaaCaaChiChi, which means CAA is Chi (not good) has turned viral. Netizens were of the opinion that the #CaaCaaChiChi slogan should be made the CAA protest slogan.
