Kolkata, November 20: A low-to-moderate intensity blaze erupted in the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) - among the most prominent cancer hospitals in the city - around Tuesday noon. The flames were brought under control shortly after they broke out, leading to no casualties.

Director General (Fire Services) Jag Mohan told reporters that three fire tenders were rushed to the site immediately after they were alerted. On reaching the CNCI, it was found that the fire had broke out in the genetic research wing, triggering panic in the adjacent hospital building. Huge Fire Erupts at 'The 42', Kolkata's Tallest Skyscraper, No Casualties Reported.

The firefighters swiftly swung into action, preventing the flames from spreading to the hospital building , where scores of patients were admitted.

While no injuries were reported, the fire department officials said some of the research papers in the lab might had been gutted.

This is the third fire incident in the past three days. On November 17, a fire was reported at 'The 42', an under construction building projected as the tallest structure in Kolkata.

Earlier in the day, a fire was reported in a residential building based in Topsia, in the eastern part of the city.

On September 16, one of the worst fires was of the city was reported in Bagri Market, which led to the destruction of more than 400 shops.
