Kolkata, Sep 12: A Bangladeshi national was arrested after live bullets were recovered from him at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The arrest was made on Monday. The accused was held after security staff of Air India recovered live bullets from his belongings. The man was then handed over to the airport police, reported news agency ANI.
"The apprehended accused namely Md Golam Haider, a Bangladeshi national holding a Bangladesh passport, was caught with 36 rounds of .32 bore ammo,” a police officer told Indian Express. “He did not make any declaration about the ammunition, nor he produce any valid documents,” the officer added.
Haider said he came to Kolkata on September 5 along with his wife and her attendant for treatment at R N Tagore Hospital. The bullets were recovered from Haider’s checked-in luggage while he was about to travel from Kolkata airport to Dhaka.
He claimed he a license bearing No 133/1982 of Siraj Ganj police station in Bangladesh for a revolver. However, he couldn't produce the permit, the officer said.
