Puducherry, July 4: Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi "should take cue" from the Supreme Court's verdict on the tussle between the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government and LG Anil Baijal, said Puducherry Chief Minister and Congress veteran V Narayanasamy. The apex court, in its judgement earlier in the day, said the Centre's representative is bound to act on the advice of the elected government in the state.

Narayanasamy said the top court verdict "applies 100 per cent" in the case of Puducherry as well. Bedi would be pressed with "contempt charges" if she attempts to overrule the Congress government in the union territory. "I myself would file contempt petition against those failing to act in consonance with the Supreme Court verdict," he said.

Although Narayanasamy, along with other Congress legislators of Puducherry, are seen on the same page with AAP on the issue of tussle with the Lieutenant Governor, the top brass of the Congress refrained from choosing sides.

Congress leader and former CM Sheila Dikshit, in the past month, had reiterated BJP's "anarchist" jibe at Arvind Kejriwal. "Under the constitutional framework, a Chief Minister has to work amicable with the LG. In my 15 years of rule, Delhi never faced such a governance logjam," she had said.

AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha attacked the Congress after the SC verdict, accusing the party of adopting a hypocritical stand. "They are constantly at loggerheads with Kiran Bedi, but never supported AAP," he said.

Meanwhile, at the LG Office in Puducherry, Bedi continued with her routine governance work which the State Congress has often accused as "intervention". Bedi held talks with the construction department officials on the progress made in the ongoing projects, apart from meeting the chief of the newly appointed Puducherry State Cooperative Bank.
