PC George, an independent MLA from Kerala, has made controversial comments on the character of the nun who leveled rape allegations against Bishop Franco Mulakkal of Jalandhar, Punjab. The Kerala MLA called the rape victim a 'prostitute' and made disparaging comments about her modesty, questioning the character of the nun. Addressing a press conference in Kottayam, Poonjar MLA PC George said that "No one has doubt that the nun is a prostitute. 12 times she enjoyed it and the 13th time it is rape? Why didn't she complain the first time?" said George in his disgraceful and absurd comment when asked for a reaction. See the ANI tweet below:

A nun had alleged in June that Mulakkal sexually abused her several times at a convent in Kuruvalangadu near Kottayam in Kerala between 2014 to 2016. An FIR was registered against the bishop and a 114-page detailed statement was taken from the nun and other inmates of the convent.

Mulakkal has denied any wrongdoing. A spokesman for the diocese told the media that no wrong had been done by the bishop and that the allegations were being made by the nun at the instigation of people with vested interests.
