As part of Operation Rahat, the Indian Coast Guard personnel also carried out a day-night operation and rescued 50 people including women and children from flooded houses in Thiruvella.

Meanwhile, as operations at Kochi airport continued to remain suspended, the first commercial flight landed at INS Garuda Kochi Naval Air Station, which has been opened for commercial flights for now. The Periyar river had flooded Kochi airport, leading to operations getting suspended till August 26.

Passengers who will be flying from the Naval base will have to arrive two hours early and will be picked at Udaan gate by a bus. The passengers will have to produce their ticket and a valid identity proof to enter the gate. Reportedly, due to lack of x-ray machines, passengers may be asked to open their cabin bags at the security gates.

The heavy rains and floods have brought the state of Kerala to a standstill, claiming several lives in the last few days. The death toll in Kerala has crossed 350 and at least 2 lakh people have been displaced.
