Ernakulam, February 20: A massive fire broke out at a warehouse in Ernakulam area in Kerala on Wednesday afternoon. According to a tweet by ANI, fire tenders were pressed to service as soon as the incident was reported. A close look at the pictures show that the entire building has been engulfed in smoke. According to a report by Manorama Online, the fire broke out at the six-storey godown of footwear brand Paragon near Ernakulam South Railway Station on Wednesday. The blaze seems to have spread on several floors as the building stores footwears. Smoke from the rubber products has made dousing efforts difficult.
In the wake of the blaze, residents from nearby buildings have been evacuated. The fire and rescue units have reached the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control. Reports inform that as a precautionary measure the electricity supply to the area has been cut temporarily.
