Thiruvananthapuram, November 13: Kerala Deputy Superintendent of Police B Harikumar was found dead at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram district in the early hours of Tuesday. The cop was found hanging from the ceiling, indicating that he has committed suicide to end his life. The preliminary probe has been launched by the police, while the body has been sent for post-mortem.
Harikumar's death comes eight days after he allegedly pushed a 32-year-old man, identified as Sanal Kumar, before a moving truck. Although no probe was initiated so far against Harikumar, the civil society in Thiruvananthapuram had geared seeking a high-level inquiry against the IPS officer.
The Sanal Kumar Action Council was formed in Neyyattinkara with over 100 activists part of it. The group laid down three demands before the government on Friday: job to Sanal's wife Viji, adequate compensation to the bereaved family and a time-bound probe against Harikumar.
Harikumar was reportedly under stress over the last week. While he had refuted the accusations, the Sanal Kumar Action Council said there was preliminary evidence on record which suggested to his "involvement in the murder".
