Kerala: Class 2 Student Bitten by Snake in Wayanad School, Second Incident in Less Than a Month
A class 7 student of a government school in Beenachi in Wayanad district's Sulthan Bathery was bitten by a snake inside the school premises on Tuesday. The seven-year-old, identified as Mohammed Raihan, has been admitted to a private medical college hospital. His condition is said to be serious.

Parents said that the minor was bitten by a snake when he was returning home after mid-term examination in the afternoon, the report said. When the child informed his parents about the incident and complained of weakness, he was rushed to the local hospital from where he was referred to DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences (WIMS). This is the second such incident reported from schools in Wayanad. Last month, a class five student of Sarvajana Government Higher Secondary School, Shahala Sherin, suffered a viper bite and died hours later. She was bitten by a viper inside her classroom on November 20.
Deputy Director of Education (DDE) Ibrahim Thonikkara told Times of India that all schools in Wayanad have completed the cleaning following the last month's incident. "We had formed 12 squads to examine the schools on the measures they have taken following the snakebite incident at Sarvajana School and the exercise was completed on December 16," he said.
