Srinagar, September 11: A high alert has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir after security forces recieved inputs about a possible infiltration bid by Pakistan-trained terrorists into the valley, according to a report by News18. Recruits of terror outfit Al-Badr are being given training at its headquarters in Mansehra in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the report stated. Mansehra lies close to Kashmir. Pakistan Army Directed Lashkar-e-Taiba, ISIS Terrorists to Target Indian Assets in Afghanistan.
Al-Badr is the same group which called for a social boycott of the families of police officers and warned locals against maintaining ties with them. Apart from Manshera, the terror group has a training camp in Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Their modus operandi includes suicide attacks, also known as fidayeen attacks, against security forces to spread terror.
Al-Badr was extremely active in Kashmir around 2000, however, extensive counter-terrorism and insurgency operations by Indian security forces had nearly eliminated them. Intelligence inputs also suggested that Pakistan has reactivated at least seven terror launch pads along Line of Control (LoC) and is likely to infiltrate terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir. The maximum number of terrorists have been assembled to infiltrate through the Gurez sector in north Kashmir.
According to a report which quoted top intelligence sources, around 80 terrorists are camping near Gurez, 60 in Machhal, 50 in Karnah, 40 in Keran, 20 in Uri, 15 in Naugam and 10 in Rampur across the LoC. Since India revoked Jammu and Kashmir's special status under Article 370 and bifurcated the state into two union territories last month, Pakistan has been threatening violence and trying to internationalise the issue.
Intelligence agencies have credible inputs that Pakistan is planning to escalate tensions by pushing in more terrorists into Kashmir. Besides Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Kerala are also on high alert and security forces are on their toes to avert any untoward incident.
