Chennai, July 31: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday met ailing DMK chief and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi, who is currently being treated at the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai.

After meeting the 94-year-old Dravidian stalwart, Rahul Gandhi addressed the press to allay rumours related to his health. "I wanted to come and see M Karunanidhi. He is a tough person, I met him and he is stable," the Congress chief said.

Scores of DMK workers had rallied outside the Kauvery Hospital over the weekend with rumours being strife of his health turning critical. Leaders cutting across party lines visited Karunanidhi and conveyed their best wishes to his family.
