Karti Chidambaram's Properties Worth Rs 54 Crore Attached by ED in INX Media Case

The Enforcement Directorate has attached around Rs 54 crore worth properties and bank deposits of Karti Chidambaram in connection with INX Media case.

New Delhi, October 11: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached around Rs 54 crore worth properties and bank deposits of Karti Chidambaram in connection with INX Media case. The properties which were attached by the ED include, property at Jor Bagh in New Delhi, Ooty and Kodaikanal bungalows, residence in UK and property in Barcelona.

Karti was arrested on February 28 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly taking money to facilitate the FIPB clearance to INX Media in 2007 to the tune of Rs 305 crore during the tenure of his father P Chidambaram as the Union Finance Minister in the United Progressive Alliance government. The Delhi High Court on September 28 extended former Finance Minister P Chidambaram's interim protection from arrest in the case till October 25. Justice Mukta Gupta said that the interim order on protection from arrest will continue till October 25. The court was hearing the former finance minister’s anticipatory bail petition which pleads for protection from arrest by the ED in the case. On July 25, the court granted him interim protection, which was later extended to September 28.
