Chandigarh, November 27: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday took a dig at Navjot Singh Sidhu over his visit to Pakistan by saying that it Sidhu’s personal decision to visit the neighbouring country. Captain Singh stated that after he clarified his stand to Sidhu, the Punjab Minister told him that it was a personal visit. In an interaction with media, The Punjab CM elaborated that he had not heard from Sidhu after he reached Pakistan. “I don't stop anyone from going anywhere on a private visit. It is not an official visit,” reported news Agency ANI quoting Captain Singh as saying.
Earlier in the day, Sidhu crossed the Attari-Wagah border to Pakistan. He was invited by Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to attend the opening ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor on November 28. While crossing the border, he said, “I am the messenger of Guru Nanak. Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday laid the foundation stone of Kartarpur corridor in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Recently, both India and Pakistan agreed to build the corridor linking Indian town of Dera Baba Nanak to a historical gurudwara in Pakistan's Kartarpur where Guru Nanak Dev spent the last 18 years of his life. On November 22, Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced the decision to open the corridor. Responding to India’s request, Pakistan announced the construction of the corridor on its side. It will be opened for Sikh pilgrims on the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev.
